If you want higher affiliate marketing commissions, there are many ways you can improve your results - but the simplest is to overcome prospective buyers’ objections even before they voice them. The good news is, there are really only five objections you have to worry about.

Even better, there’s a single word you can remember to make sure you cover them all, preemptively. When you head these objections off at the pass, you’ll clear a path for prospects to keep moving forward in their buying decision process. By keeping these objections in mind, you can adjust your campaign creative to address them before they even surface.

M = Money

E = Energy

R = Reputation

Sales Objection #1: Time

Affiliate Marketing CommissionsEveryone’s pressed for time. When someone considers buying something - no matter what it is, there’s a time component to consider. It might take time to buy, time to use, or even time to take care of - but you can be sure the time question is rattling around in their minds as they decide whether to take the next step into the sales funnel.

But…

You can overcome the time objection before it knocks a prospect out of the funnel. Just consider where the time factor is most likely to cause a roadblock, address it, and remove it.

For example, let’s say you’re generating leads or calls for health insurance. A prospect might dread spending hours and hours researching plans, only to end up more confused than when they started. You could work with that! By making a quick phone call, they can get all the information they need to get a great policy without wasting time on a wild goose chase.

Sales Objection #2: Identity

Affiliate Marketing CommissionsEver heard someone say that they only wish they could be half the person their dog thinks they are? We see our own flaws, our shortcomings, the gap between reality and who we want to be. Part of our identity is wrapped up in what we buy. We’ve got to be able to reconcile our purchases with who we are. For example, someone who’s passionate about “green” products would likely never even consider buying a diesel truck, given the option to buy a Prius. One vehicle matches their values and identity and the other does not.

But…

You can overcome the identity objection by thinking about what matters most to your ideal prospects, then focusing on what aligns best with those values.

For example, let’s say you’re generating leads or calls for final expense insurance. One of the main reasons someone buys a plan is to protect their family from having to foot the bill for a funeral. You might focus on how one way we show love for our families is to make sure we provide for their needs rather than leaving them with a big bill. Who doesn’t want to be the kind of person who takes others’ needs into account, making a tough time easier for them?

Sales Objection #3: Money

Affiliate Marketing CommissionsNot every prospective buyer wants the lowest-price option. But price is a big factor for many as they make buying decisions. They have an idea of what something “should” cost - no matter the real price point. If they perceive that the price is wrong, they won’t move forward.

But…

Money is a renewable resource. In fact, in many cases, spending some money now can prevent having to spend a lot more money later. It’s often possible to spend money to fix a problem while it’s small rather than ignoring a problem that only becomes more expensive to fix later.

For example, let’s say you’re generating leads or calls for addiction treatment. This can be expensive, of course! But for someone who’s battling addiction, their job is in jeopardy, they may be facing divorce, and they may even have mounting legal bills. By investing in getting well, they can avoid those other - much larger - expenses.

Sales Objection #4: Energy

Affiliate Marketing CommissionsThis one goes hand-in-hand with Time, but is slightly different. We have a limited amount of energy we can devote to the various demands of life. If it seems like it’s going to be really hard to buy something, use it, or care for it, we might hesitate to over-extend ourselves.

But…

Just like money, energy is a tradeoff. You can either expend energy now, or energy later. Plus, by taking action sooner than later, it’s often possible to make life easier. You can use this objection to build a bit of urgency in your campaigns.

For example, let’s say you’re generating leads or calls for tax debt settlement. Taxpayers who have an overwhelming tax bill will devote hours and hours to research, waste a lot of time worrying, and likely find themselves working for years to pay off their bill on an installment plan. But if they get help, that could all go away. Talk about a good use of time - getting on a call with someone who can help them can save them a lot of worry and work (just like energy!).

Sales Objection #5: Reputation

Affiliate Marketing CommissionsThis one’s a lot like Identity, except that it’s oriented toward what other people think of us. Humans are extremely driven to protect their reputation. We want our image and our reality to match - in a good way. Potential buyers might worry about people finding out they have a certain problem.

But…

It’s more likely for people’s dirty laundry to be aired if it’s not dealt with before they’re found out. Plus, some problems just get worse with time, making it likely that others will find out. By taking care of the issue sooner than later, they can protect their reputation.

For example, let’s say you’re generating leads or calls for credit repair. When consumers fall into debt, they often rack up huge credit card bills that they can’t pay off. What happens next is embarrassing, for sure - having their belongings repossessed, possibly losing their homes, maybe even having to file bankruptcy. But by working with a credit repair company, they may be able to protect their stuff - and their reputation.

Use TIMER to Make Higher Affiliate Marketing Commissions

By keeping these objections in mind, you can address them in your campaign before the prospect falls out of the sales funnel. You can turn each objection inside-out and focus on the truth of how by taking action, they can protect their time, identity, money, energy, and reputation.
